Fellowship-Centered Sober Cruises

At Sober Celebrations, we believe that travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer. We're passionate about helping folks in recovery travel without worrying about relapsing. Our goal is to provide a safe, compassionate environment for you to broaden your horizons and travel to exciting destinations around the world.

About Our Sober Vacations

A "sober cruise" or a "sober vacation" is a way of identifying a trip where, as far as anyone can tell, all attendees have the main goal of staying sober while out in the real world on vacation. There will typically be alcohol in locations we pass, but we aim to stay spiritually fit, in keeping with the Big Book, to go anywhere in the world. When we travel together, we have a safety net like no other.

Gratitude Cruises® is the trademarked name of the sober cruise line created by Snow P. At Gratitude Cruises, we operate an anonymous parallel universe in which the word "sober" is never uttered. Our 6 annual vacations travel to destinations across the globe and feature some if not all of the following:

  • Keynote Speakers
  • 12 Step Meetings
  • 24-Hour Fellowship Station
  • Al-Anon Meetings
  • Group Shore Excursions

Snow's Travel Diary

The following is an excerpt from Snow's travel diary after a recent fellowship cruise from Venice to the Greek Isles:

"There are two times that define a particular dimension of reality in my life: the first 35 years before I experienced Creme Brulee and the years that follow. Explaining the last 10 days on islands in Italy and Greece with a band of adventurous recovering alcoholics is like trying to explain the experience of having Creme Brulee. The silky richness of it rolls around your mouth and brain like the siren's song that secluded the sailors into the glistening Aegean sea at dusk; there is a smooth yolk texture that slips under your tongue like the egg tempera wood covered in gold leaf by ancient artists in Byzantine paintings, and while the dessert is similar to a religious experience, it can't compare to whispering the Serenity Prayer with people who have been raised from the dead while inside St. Mark's Basilica in Venice where the saint himself is buried.

Creme Brulee, Venice and Santorini have a lot in common for me this week. The last day at sea I actually got to serve several sober people on their first cruise their very first Creme Brulee at a Jazz Brunch at Le Bistro Cafe. It doesn't get any better than that!"
